In the time and age of auto-correct, predictive text and spell check, the Spellathon competition for Grade- IV, V and VI students held at MODY SCHOOL, Lakshmangarh came as a whiff of fresh breeze.
The Inter-house English Spellathon competition for grade- IV, V and VI students was organized by the English faculty, Ms Meenu Soni, in school on 15 Dec 2023. Three students from each house qualified for the semifinals. Students participated with great enthusiasm and duelled through the toughest words to prove their mettle.
All eight rounds of the Spellathon held the audience ‘spellbound’. The first round was ‘Anagram’ followed by ‘Unscramble the words’, ‘Identify the correct spelling’ ‘Rapid fire’, ‘Homophones’, ‘Compound Words’, ‘Mystery box’, ‘Enact the word’ in which students had to ace both in acting and spelling.
Finally, Leelawati House participants buzzed away to success. In the end, the audience round was also held. The competition made students aware of spellings and the usage of many unfamiliar words. It served to enrich the vocabulary bank of the students.
