In the time and age of auto-correct, predictive text and spell check, the Spellathon competition for Gr.4, 5 and 6 students held at MODY SCHOOL Lakshmangarh came as a whiff of fresh breeze.
The Inter-house Spellathon competition for Gr.4, 5 and 6 students was organized by Primary School Incharge, Ms Meenu Soni, in the school on 25 Dec 2021. There were three students for each house who qualified for the semifinals. Students participated with great enthusiasm and dueled through the toughest words to prove their mettle.
All the eight rounds of the Spellathon held the audience ‘spellbound’: the first round was ‘Anagram’; the second round was ‘Unscramble the words, and the third round was ‘Identify the correct spelling’. The fourth round was ‘Rapid fire round’, the fifth round was ‘Homophones’, the sixth round was ‘Compound Words’, the seventh round was ‘Mystery box’, and the last one was the eighth round that is the toughest words of ‘Enact the word’ round which was spelt, with unflinching ease by the spelling wizards. It was a nerve-wracking task to reach the final winner house.
Finally, Leelawati House participants buzzed away to success and were declared the winners. Sarojini House secured second place and third place was shared by Gargi House and Kasturba House participants.
In the end, the audience round was also held and all the students and teachers sitting in the audience participated with great zeal and enthusiasm
The competition made students aware of spellings and the usage of many unfamiliar words. It was a wonderful learning experience not only for the participants but also for their peers and served to enrich the vocabulary bank of the students.
Our School Principal Madam Nishi Rana, motivated the students to climb the ladder of success by participating in different educational activities like Spellathon . She inspired our students to question and learn by doing. She motivated them to use their skills, courage, optimism and integrity to pursue dreams. Children represent our hopes and dreams. According to her, we hope to create an atmosphere of reverence for education where work, sports and co-curricular activities will mold our students and spur them to be the brightest and the best.
Finally, Leelawati House participants buzzed away to success and were declared the winners. Sarojini House secured the second place and the third place was shared by Gargi House and Kasturba House participants.
